Is Fasting Appropriate For High Cholesterol |
 |
A real life saver for the overweight person is fasting. Fasting actually do not benefit in weight loss. It makes a person to lose it weight. Only unwanted weight or fat content should be lost. Fasting can actually makes us fatter. While fasting, there is no chance of losing weight, but it helps in gaining the control of appetite, which is the real problem for an overweight person.
While fasting, the fats in the body in burned out. Due to a release of chemical substance known as ketones, the body fats get burned. This is the main source of bad breath. Due to continuous burning down of body fat, the metabolism rate slows down. If the body is not getting food for several days the metabolism of processing the food slows down.
And so when we start eating after some days, it will be able to metabolize only small amount of food, and so we don’t get over appetite as our stomach is filled even with a small amount of food. This makes the digestive system cleaner. A clean more efficient body with slow metabolism rate, there will be need of only less food for the same level of activity.
We should reduce the intake of food as we don’t need much food for the same level of activity. But then, when we start eating much food as before the fasting, we should start exercising and do more physical activity to slow down the metabolic rate.
Fasting is not appropriate to treat high cholesterol because regardless of the deposits the body still requires energy and you got to supplement it with a proper diet at the right time. It is important you talk to your dietician regarding this. They might also require you to be on medications like Atorvastatin and Simvastatin if need be. Go, by what your physician says.
