High
Cholesterol Can Invite Several Other Medical Conditions |
 |
|
A fatty substance which
is required by our body to support in certain functions are called as
cholesterols. Many hormones are produced with the help of cholesterol in our
body. Cholesterol is always transported
in the blood through proteins.
Hence a combination of
cholesterol which is lipids and proteins in the blood are called as
lipoproteins based on the percentage of fat in the lipoprotein. But there
should only be limited amount of cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol in the blood may cause serious problems with
heart. High cholesterol level damages
the arteries by blocking the blood flow to the heart. This causes coronary
arteries disease.
The constant supply of
the oxygenated blood is required for the heart to pump out blood to all parts
of the body. So due to the narrowing caused in the arteries because of
cholesterol deposition, the blood supply is blocked and the heart does not
receive the oxygenated blood properly. There would formation of plaques in the arteries,
this causes angina. If a portion of heart is devoid of blood supply, it results
in heart attack.
There are several
factors which contribute to the rise of cholesterol level in the blood. First
factor is the age factor, which is directly variable with the intake of high saturated
fats and cholesterol. As the intake of excess fat containing substances
increases, the risk of heart disease also increases with age. When we are
obese, the fats are not burned out into calories which in turn get deposited in
the adipose tissue. This excess fat may causes series of problems. Regular
exercise would help greatly in losing the unwanted fats.
High cholesterol is
indicative of improper metabolism due to improper intake of food and inadequate
levels of work to use up your calories. Under uncontrolled situations and
chronic hypercholesterolemia medication is strictly warranted.
