Anaemia is one of the reported reasons for hair loss and indeed a major reason for several conditions. Hair loss is best treated with Propecia or Finasteride; however, it should also be accompanied by treating anaemia.

In case of iron deficiency anaemia body is not able to produce enough haemoglobin due to low level of iron. Pale skin color and eyes, weakness, headache, dizziness, palpitation, irritability, cold hands and feet, reduced immune system, brittle nails, unusual craving for foods like ice, dirt or pure starch,  poor appetite, restless legs syndrome etc are some of the symptoms associated with iron deficiency of anaemia.

If we do not have adequate iron through our food or losing iron, the body is not able to synthesis haemoglobin. Loss of blood results in anaemia. Women having heavy period’s loss of blood leading to low level of iron. Chronic blood loss occurs in people suffering from peptic ulcer, a kidney or bladder tumor, a colon polyp, colorectal cancer leads to anaemia.  If low iron diet is consumed for prolonged period of time, this leads to low level of iron in the blood. Presence of intestinal disorder will prevent the absorption of iron. During pregnancy there is great demand for iron requirement, if proper iron supplementation is not provided it leads to anaemia.

Severe deficiency of iron will leads to various health complications like heart problems, make pregnancy complicated and interfere with pattern of growth. Intake iron rich foods are beneficial. Taking vitamin C foods along with iron rich foods will help in the increased absorption of iron. Sea foods, poultry, eggs, red meat, liver, dark green leafy vegetables, dried grapes, nuts, seeds etc are some of the good sources of iron.
